Weekly genetics review: Is it still worth selecting for muscling?

Looking back over the past year across NLRS-reported cattle sales in NSW and Qld, the price difference on offer for yearling steers in the range of 280-400kg has the average difference in muscle score (B to C, or C to D, for example) – averaging 67c/kg. This far exceeds the expectations of many observers, and poses some questions in genetic selection decisions, genetics editor Al Rayner suggests.
