NVLX Wodonga 23 May 2023: Export demand weakens

Numbers increased slightly with just over 500 cows penned.

Not all of the usual export buyers were at the sale and processors struggled to find well finished stock.

There were bursts of bidding for grain finished young cattle and European vealers, while other stock lacked competition.

The pick of the vealers sold to dearer trends, the bulk selling from 260 to 455c/kg.

There was strong demand for grain assisted yearlings resulting in steer prices lifting significantly.
