Aussie farmers are in the middle of mourning “a terrible waste” of produce, with truckloads of healthy oranges being dumped in “graveyards” around the country.
About 1500 semi trailers full of – what may seem to the untrained eye – perfectly fine oranges have been dumped at sites around the nation, while orange orchards filled with ripe fruit are also being slashed to pieces.
“(It has) got a mark on it, so who is gonna eat an orange with a mark?” third-generation orange farmer Vito Manseri, from Griffith in the NSW Riverina, told A Current Affair.
