Mike Pearson examines the farm bill expiration and the problems that could arise if a new one isn’t created in the next few months.
The Farm bill expired Sept. 30.
Without an extension of the bill, programs involving conservation will stop enrollment.
Programs such as the livestock indemnity, SNAP and livestock forage emergency programs continue without the bill in place.
However, the budget will be big news again in November and the farm bill has a deadline of January 1 before it expires and the 1940’s era ag laws go into effect again.
