Not since 1990 has the Macadamia industry faced a price below input cost, as world supply of cheaper nuts, notably almonds, continue to challenge the market. Meanwhile, demand slump as a result of COVID-19, and increased production in South Africa, remains unresolved and those who’ve been around before reckon it will be 2024 before the mood lifts.
