Weekly rainfall update + rainfall outlook 27 September 2023

A COLD front crossed south-eastern Australia on the 19th and 20th, bringing showers mostly to western Tasmania; another cold front moved over southern Australia at the end of the week, with little rainfall.

Easterly on-shore airflow resulted in showers for parts of the north-east coast.

Much of western and southern Tasmania and a small area on the Queensland’s Northern Tropical Coast had weekly totals of more than 50 mm for the week.

The highest weekly total (at a Bureau gauge) of 120.0 mm was recorded at Topaz Alert, Queensland; the highest daily rainfall total during the week of 66.0…
