Weekly rainfall update + rainfall outlook 7 June 2023

A slow front moved through Tasmania early in the week and caused heavy falls and water levels to rise in the Huon and Esk rivers to major and minor flood levels respectively.

A low pressure system over south-west WA brought significant rainfall – some sites had their highest daily June rainfall on record – and moved through the Australian Bight.

An upper trough pushed through central Australia and south Australia with active storms.

The highest daily rainfall during the week (at a Bureau gauge) was 78.2 mm at Bickley, WA, to 9 am 5 June.
